Double the Giggles: Miss Emma Goes to Washington

It's been a busy couple of weeks around here! For Christmas, Mom and Dad and Grandma and Grandpa gave our cousin Emma a trip to come out to DC to see us and the sights. We had such a fun week with Emma and we think she had fun seeing everything too. Her visit makes us wish we were geographically closer to all of our awesome cousins.

Some days Emma and Grandma went sight-seeing alone and some days we went with them. Beware, there are a lot of fun pictures to follow of all of the many adventures we had while Emma was here.

We went to Mt. Vernon (one of our all-time favorite places in the area):

Being springtime, we had the most fun seeing all of the animals on George and Martha's farm. There were the sweetest lambs that were only days old and we enjoyed watching them while outside in the beautiful 70 degree weather.

Inside the museum at Mt. Vernon there are all kinds of fun dress-up clothes and things to play with. How do I look in late 18th-century Virginia fashion?

We were even able to have a tea party George and Martha style (with pretend oysters too...yuck!):

We spent one day at the National Archives and the Smithsonians:

There is something extra fun about riding the carousel on the National Mall. Maybe because it reminds us of the circus...and when we think about it, we figure Congress, just yards away, is pretty much just like the circus!

The Natural History Museum has tons of huge animals that we showed Emma. She thought they were pretty neat, but liked the Hope Diamond and all of it's bling just a bit more.

One day during the weekend when Grandpa was here too, we ALL went to the Mall to see the monuments.

Chasing Emma on the National Mall lawn was especially fun. She was the perfect playmate all week.

It's been a while since we've been down to the Washington Monument. We think it keeps getting bigger!

The last stop on Emma's tour of Washington was Georgetown Cupcake (now seen on the show DC Cupcakes). We had to share with her the glorious deliciousness that is the cupcake phenomenon. There was hardly a line (shock!) and we all enjoyed a few cupcakes. Yum!
