Two Cheers!

Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Two cheers (we can't very well give her three cheers when there are only two of us, now can we?) for our Aunt Amy! She is now officially a college graduate! We weren't able to celebrate with her behind the Cheddar Curtain, but we sure are proud of her. Congratulations, Aunt Amy for the spectacular achievement! Here's the graduate with one of our uncles and another aunt. It looks like they had a great time celebrating the grad. We look forward to seeing all of them over the 4th of July!
Our advice for our Aunt Amy as she embarks on her bright future is a good rule to remember that we learned from a book character we like named Eloise (she is particularly mischievous, which we can especially appreciate):
"Getting bored is not allowed." ~Eloise

Seussical Silliness!

"'I will pick up the hook.
You will see something new.
Two things. And I call them
Thing One and Thing Two.
These Things will not bite you.
They want to have fun.'

Then out of the box
Came Thing Two and Thing One!And they ran to us fast.
They said, 'How do you do?
Would you like to shake hands
With Thing One and Thing Two?'
'Have no fear, little fish,'
Said the Cat in the Hat.
'These Things are good Things.'
And he gave them a pat.
'They are tame. Oh, so tame!
They have come here to play.
They will give you some fun
On this wet, wet, wet day.'"

A Trip Recap

Although we kind of had a rough week in MN (Elyse got sick, Mommy got sick, Grandma got sick...there was just a lot of sickness to go around!), the first weekend and last weekend we were there were GREAT! We had so much fun spending time with family and playing with our awesome cousins--they're a crazy bunch who definitely know how to have a great time! We were just a little sad we didn't get to spend more time with some of Mommy's other friends...but there's always next time! Here is a recap of our fun with all of our family and visitors (prepare yourself, there a lot of pictures; this is Mommy's first post of pics with her new Nikon D90 thanks to our amazing Daddy!):

We had a fun bonfire one night and had a great time getting warm by the fire. This is one of our cousins, O., and she was especially fun to play with this week because while her older sisters were at school, she'd come over and keep us company!
This is our crazy Uncle Nate. Whatever you do, don't ask him about a certain sound-making app on his iPhone (just trust us on this one, the laughter quotient is way too high!).
The only shot we got of Mommy on Mother's Day. She was just too busy snapping the pictures to have hers taken!
This is our cousin E. and our Aunt Kim. They live close to Grandma and Grandpa so we had lots of chances to play with them!
Elyse: Our other grandparents came up for the weekend too so we could see everyone in one place. Grandpa, you know you should really do something about your sense of humor...I think I'm the only one who will laugh at your jokes!
Thanks for an amazing time Grandpa and Grandma! We had so much fun celebrating Mother's Day and birthdays with you. We hope you'll invite us back even though we were big sickos while we were at your house!
Grandma was so nice to spend lots of time playing and cuddling with us. While Elyse was sick, we sure needed the extra love!
Part of our big Mother's Day celebration was to wish our Aunt Lindsay a Happy Birthday too! It was so fun to see her and thanks to her birthday, we got to eat Ice Cream Cake...we'll have to make these arrangements more often!
These are our twin cousins S. and E. They are just one year older than us and are lots of giggles and laughs!
Elyse: I'm the short one with the white hat on. I may be little, but I'm not too little to play at the sand table with the rest of the big kids!
Smile! Mom's gone crazy with her new camera!
Felicity: Just out for a stroll. I'm so big! Now if I could just get a little hair...
All of the twins squished on the climbing gym. What a gang!
Daddy sent Mommy these flowers to help us all feel better during our big sick fest. They cheered us all up!

Apparently our Dad has a long-standing tradition of wearing our cousins out with all kinds of raucous behavior. We can't wait to be old enough to join in!
Hanging out with our other Grandma:
Felicity: Another picture? Don't you think 100 pictures in one day is enough? Well, I'm not going to smile, that's for sure.
We also got to see our good family friends too. Mommy grew up next door to them and we miss them a lot! It was so fun to see Jenna (who would DEFINITELY be our babysitter if we lived closer!!):
Elyse: Jenna and her mom brought us donut holes from a de-li-cious local bakery and I just couldn't get enough! More please!
With four sweet kiddos of her own, Chris is a natural with us littles:
These two pretty little ladies are our oldest cousins G. and E. They show us the ropes and teach us all kinds of big-girl stuff like swinging on the big seat-swing, going down the slide, and all kinds of other mischief! We love them so much and miss them already!
Elyse: Okay, people. You've seen all there is to see here. If she doesn't put her camera away, it's not going to be pretty. Not pretty at all. Look at my face. I mean business.

A huge thank-you to all of our family and friends for the great (albeit sickly and stressful) trip! We miss you already! Also, thanks to our blog readers who made it this far in the post...your picture-perusing abilities are quite astounding!

And one more shout-out to our super-cool Daddy who gave Mommy a super-cool Mother's Day present. Thanks, Dad. Now we'll never be able to pry the camera out of her hands!

Playtime with Friends

One of the exciting things we got to do on our big trip to MN was to go to the Minnesota Children's Museum. It was so much fun! We went with our very good friend Ben and his mommy. Ben's parents and our parents are longtime friends and we look forward to seeing them each time we get to MN.

Elyse: Whoa!! Another one of me? Don't I already have a twin? I think we'll stick with just the two of us for now!Ben and his mom are so fun! Even though Ben's a bit younger than us, we had a great time playing with him! Here we were playing in the "Habitot" set up with a Prairie, Cave, and other habitats just for tots...so creative!
Felicity: Ben, if you just come over here with me, I'll show you where the fun stuff is! (For those of you who think I am pinching Ben, you're wrong. It was just a love-squeeze!).
Here we are playing in a pretend sandbox in the Clifford the Big Red Dog room. It was one of our favorite spots:
Elyse: Ben didn't even mind sharing his Mommy's lap with me. What a guy!
Thanks for all of the fun Ben! We can't wait to see you again soon!

More to come from our MN adventures...

SURPRISE GRANDPA!!

One of the reasons we've been absent from the blogging world lately is because we made a secret trip to MN. We had to organize our plans and take our trip without a word on the blog so we could pull off a HUGE surprise for our Grandpa's 60th birthday!! We planned a covert operation with our Grandma and we surprised him for his big birthday bash. When we walked into the restaurant, he didn't even know what to think because he was just so surprised! Here's his face of shock when we walked into the room:Mommy made these cute shirts for us. One said "Surprise Grandpa!" and the other said "Happy 60th Birthday!" Our little outfits added to the spectacular surprise!
Here's the gang from the Saturday surprise party. We had a second party on Sunday with our cousins and other Aunt and Uncle. It was so much fun!
Not only was part of the surprise to arrive at the party, but we also surprised Grandpa with a week-long stay in MN. Here we are enjoying time with the birthday boy:
We love our grandpa so much and feel so lucky we got to celebrate the big 6-0 with him! Happy Birthday Grandpa!
We'd also like to extend a special THANK-YOU to all of our sweet friends and family who helped pull off all of the details of the surprise. Particularly, we'd like to send a hug and some love to our Mommy's bestest friend (and our friend too!) for all of her help picking us up from the airport and being so great!

15 Months of Twingenuity

Can you believe we are already 15 months old? How quickly time flies when you're having fun (and have a very full social calendar!). Here are the statistics on how we're doing from our doctor's visit today:

Elyse:
Weight: 20 lbs. 11.5 oz (25th percentile)
Length: 30'' (60th percentile)
Felicity:
Weight: 20 lbs 9.5 oz (25th percentile)
Length: 30 inches (60th percentile)

By all accounts we're doing well and very healthy! What wonderful news!

And remember, it's not double trouble, it's Twingenuity! :0)
