Somebunny said Easter is coming!

This week, as we work on getting healthy (we're feeling much better!), we're also busy getting ready for Easter, our big Easter Egg Hunt, and celebrating Jesus! We've been reading this book about the real reason for Easter (if you're looking for a good Easter book for the pint-sized crowd, this is our fav): We're also practicing our hopping and bunny skills...while learning how to hunt for eggs and getting sweet little tastes of the gourmet delicacy called Peeps. And as you can see, we are having lots of hilarious laughs!

Last night, after we were well on our way to dancing with sugar plum fairies in dreamland, Mommy was up late dyeing Easter eggs for our party (and our own delicious consumption!). We just knew the party starts when we go to bed...we're always missing out! Mom hopes that we will love dyeing eggs with her in just a few years. Here's her egg operation:

On the mend

Some of you may be wondering how we're doing...we'll say that we've been better, but we are on the mend and that is the good news. Last week was a tough one on us and our mom. We were all sick and our house had a general feeling of sickly gloominess that was hanging over it. However, with a beautiful day today and less congestion than last week, we are quite happy to be feeling better and really think we've turned the corner!

One of the things that has been so hard throughout this run with RSV is that the steroids we're on make us "jittery" (as the nurse put it). Really, this just means that while feeling all-together yucky, we were bounce-bounce-bouncing off of the walls at the same time. This was both a surreal and exhausting endeavor for us and our parents (so they tell us!).

On one of our more sickly of days, we just HAD to get out of the house, so we went outside for a little fresh air (and our mom was hoping we'd burn off some of our craziness!). What a perfect time to try out our new climbing gym! Even though we were sick, we just loved it! Here we are discovering the door to fun together:Felicity: Even though I was excited to play outside, I was still feeling yucky, but who says you can't take a quick cat-nap on picnic table? Made me feel better in no time!

Elyse: Mom, this may be our first time on the climber, but I'm not exactly in the mood for pictures! Can't you wait until I don't have puffy eyes and a runny nose?

Felicity: Okay, Elyse, if I let you through this door, you have to promise to do everything I say...

Elyse! You're not doing what I said! You have to let me go down the slide first! I'm outta here!

As we continue to feel better, we look forward to many more days playing outside! Thanks for all of your prayers and well-wishes! We appreciate it!

Just a little sickly...

Hello! We know it's been a while since our last update. This is partly because a.) we were having fun with The Greats; and b.) we have been completely and utterly under the weather. But we wouldn't want to go too long without an update, so here's a little look into our recent excitement.

For one of our final destinations with The Greats we took them to good ol' Georgie's home on the hill above the Potomac. This is our 2nd favorite tourist spot in the area ( 1st is the National Gallery, of course!). It was a rainy day, but with our sweet ride, we were toasty warm inside the stroller. After all of our traipsing around the city, we sadly had to bid farewell to The Greats. It was a fun week of relaxing, visiting, and touring the city. We look forward to seeing them in July! Take note of our sad faces when they left:But now, we must face the reality that we're a bit under the weather and it is no fun---absolutely no fun at all! All last week we had what we thought was just a cold, but then we developed a nasty eye infection, and then the wheezing and coughing took a turn for the worst! And now, we both have a nasty thing called RSV. It really is the pits! We have to take treatments from a machine like this every 4 hours (including all night) and we are not happy about it...not one bit!

The nebulizer gives us medicine to breathe in that helps our lungs open up (they are congested from all of the gunk from RSV). We also have to take additional steroids to help us breathe more clearly, eye drops for our eye infections, and Baby motrin for the general feeling of yuckiness. Seriously, people, this is not fun, not fun at all! Felicity particularly hates the nebulizer and fights it off with all of her might for the 15 minute treatment! We are sorry to hate the medicines so much (especially because it gets to be a lot of work for Mommy and Daddy), but being sick is just not something to smile about! Mommy got a nasty cold too (probably from us), so now our house is one big nasty, congested, germ fest! Yuck!!

The good news is that the doctor says we should be better by the weekend. Not only is this good news because we want to be healthy again, but it is also a relief because we have a fabulous Easter Egg Eggstravaganza planned for Easter weekend. We need to build all of our strength for our very first egg hunt!

The Greats in the City

We took the Greats (see previous post if you don't know who the Greats are) into the city today and had a marvelous time showing them all of our local haunts. We had lunch in the art museum (our absolute FAVORITE place to go in the city...but we didn't make them go through Mommy's "Gallery Tour Extraordinaire"...too much other stuff to see!), and made sure to stop in the National Gallery's rotunda to show our green-thumbed Greats the beautiful display: Then it was off to the mall for a view of the zoo...oh wait...we mean the Capital building:

Felicity: And we stopped at the powerful and beautiful WWII Memorial. Here I am explaining all about the controversy, construction, and symbolic structure of the memorial to a very attentive audience. (Seriously people, we give a good tour!)

Let me teach you how to have a little fun...

Waiting with great anticipation for our great grandparents to arrive, we just couldn't waste time finding the second step-stool. Instead, we decided to share one! We've been sharing spaces since before birth, so we're really not that bothered by getting up close and personal with each other!When the Greats arrived (we've decided to call them that as they are our great-grandparents and they are particularly great people...it just fits!) we did lots of relaxing and playing this weekend. We showed them how we could have fun inside (as you read about in our last post), and how we have fun at the park. As you will see, we're not the only ones who know how to have a little fun!

Felicity: Hey, Dad! It looks like they're having fun over on the swings. Maybe we should try that!

After Great-Grandpa showed us how to slide down the slide, we just loved it!

Elyse: Dad, you have way more hair than I do! Should I be concerned about this?

Felicity's Philosophical Question of the Day: Does the phrase "a walk in the park" apply to the likes of the under 2 crowd who actually have to expend concerted effort and energy to simply take a walk in the park? Chew on that one folks!

Running is Hard Work!

Who knew running would be such hard work? We have to ride in a cool stroller, look at all of the interesting sights and scenery, eat cheerios in between playing with toys, throw the occasional stuffed monkey overboard, and sip on water while being pushed for an hour. Whew! It's a tough job, but we're up to the challenge!
Here we are just after a taxing run with Mommy: This stroller is no joke. When we get on the trails, we mean business! Mommy believes that next to our baby swing that saved us from complete meltdown when we were just wee little ones, this stroller is the single best purchase of baby gear we've made!!

And every serious runner knows you must hydrate, hydrate, hydrate after a long run!

And on a fashion note, to commemorate our first jog in the stroller, we wore our Adidas velvet track suits with pink satin detail. They were just the right balance of style and comfort!

Here's your water Mom! If we have to hydrate, you really have to! After all, you're the one who just ran and pushed us!

Outdoor Adventures

We can say with confidence that we think spring is here to stay! Even though some people here (okay, not just some people, we're talking the meteorologist on the news!) think 40 degrees is terribly cold...we laugh in the face of 40! When it climbs to 55, it's a downright heatwave! (Mom and Dad are always telling us about what real cold is like...something about below zero...). Anyways, it has been very nice lately and we've had a great time playing outside!

Snacks actually taste better while sitting at our pint-sized picnic-table:Elyse: Forget about the snacks, Felicity! I think the picnic table is perfect for climbing!

What's that you say, Mom? I'm not supposed to be sitting on top of the table? It's not meant for that? Sounds like one person's interpretation to me...

Felicity: Seriously, Elyse. That is one HUGE tree!

Anyone interested in a little game of soccer? We just love playing with our hot pink soccer ball!

With all the paparazzi, it must be Hollywood!

We're in the market for new shades as summer will soon be upon us (it is 73 degrees today!). We like this sassy little number from one of our fav stores, but we can't quite decide if they're a good fit. We think they're pretty cute and channel a Malibu vibe (in honor of our fabulous Malibu friends of course!). They're also big which will help hide our faces from the ceaseless paparazzi!

We'll keep you posted on what shades we decide to get.

Elyse: Felicity, I think we definitely have to go big on the shades! I tried using my hood to hide my face from the paparazzi, but they are relentless!

A Seriously Spectacular Surprise

You might have been wondering, where have our favorite blogging babies gone? Well, we do have a pretty busy social calendar and sometimes the blogging gets put on the shelf while we enjoy life. This week, however, our blogging has been put on hold because of a spectacular surprise visitor!

Just last weekend we found out that our Grandma's spring break plans changed and she was going to be able to visit us again! We were so excited to have her here for almost a whole week of fun and playing! Her last visit just wasn't long enough and we were just ecstatic to have her back! And Mommy loved having the help and another person to help keep us entertained (we are pretty busy little girls, you know!).

The last half of the week we had beautiful weather so we took the chance to show Grandma our favorite zoo. We introduced her to our panda bear friends because she's never seen a panda before! The zoo is the perfect place for our new ride as well! We had a great time seeing all sorts of animals and enjoying the 60-70 degree weather!

While Mom and Grandma enjoyed Starbucks (it's across the street from the zoo--Mommy has some sort of coffee-radar that helps her to know where every good coffee shop is located), we enjoyed our sippy cups (we've become expert sippy-cup drinkers) and a piece of tasty coffee-cake! It was de-li-cious!

Elyse: I didn't mind holding the bag from Starbucks because it meant I got to enjoy all of the crumbly, sugary pieces!

Felicity: While Elyse was busy finishing her snack, I had so much fun walking all over the zoo carrying our new friends! Grandma bought us stuffed animals that looked like the ones we got to see in real life at the zoo. The tigers were out and about in their exhibit and the red panda was sleeping in a tree. This was the first time that we really recognized the animals and got so excited to see them that we squealed in delight!

Here I am with our new friends: A sweet stuffed tiger (we're thinking we're going to name him Howard, but it's still up for debate) and a red panda (we're leaning towards Patsy for her name, what do you think?).

Thanks Grandma for all of the fun! We were so lucky you got to come and surprise us!

Fashionistas

These days the fashion world is all abuzz with talk of the Oscars (like our fabulous fancy friend). Although we don't have fabulous evening gowns to model, we thought we could still contribute our own fashion statement: We're pretty sure this look knocks Hollywood out of the water!
