Elyse & Felicity and the Great Pumpkin

The night before Halloween we carved our very first pumpkins! Grandma and Daddy did the carving, but we had so much fun digging out the guts and playing with all of the pumpkin's gooey insides!

Mommy even had enough energy to help a little:Felicity: Grandma, this is so cool! We should carve pumpkins every day!
Elyse: I figure that pumpkin muffins are very yummy so the pumpkin itself should be good too. Right? I'll just take a little taste to find out...hmmm...I think I'll stick to the muffins!
Felicity: I'm telling you the truth Grandma. I just saw Elyse take a bite of the gooey guts. Can you believe she did that? Disgusting!
Our finished pumpkins light up our front steps with a sparkly glow and are all ready for Halloween. We are excited to do it again next year!
Happy Halloween!

Boo at the Zoo

Hello! We apologize for the blogging absence while our mommy has been recovering from surgery. She's doing well, resting (although Daddy says she is BAD at resting!), and we've had so much fun hanging out with our Grandmas.Last weekend we went to BOO at the ZOO at the National Zoo. We had fun collecting goodies, seeing the animals, and flitting around as Monarch butterflies:
Elyse: I was sad to hear that Mommy had to stay home in bed. It was a big BOO-HOO for me before we left:
But then I got to put on my new fancy shoes and all was right with the world:
We sure are lucky that we had our Grandma to take care of us. We didn't miss a minute of fun!

A Big Day!

Today our Mommy is having surgery to hopefully fix the headaches she's had for 11 years! Please pray that all goes well and that she returns to us safe and sound (with a speedy recovery!). When she's better, we'll continue blogging about our silly adventures and giggles...until then, you can know we're having lots of fun with our Grandma!

Fabulous Fall Festival

Last weekend Grandpa was in town for a quick visit and we had a great adventure going to the one of the best Fall festivals in all of the DC metro area. Here we are trying out our new wagon for the first time. It was the perfect set of wheels for the farm:
Wow, look over there! It's the Farmer of Cox Farms! Wait a minute...that's just Grandpa!
We got to eat yummy apples. This was the first time we ate our apples without having them cut up. We are getting so big!
Mmmmm!! An apple in one hand and a sippy cup full of apple cider in the other! You just can't go wrong!
Elyse: This fall festival stuff is just too much to handle. The fun is EVERYWHERE! Let's just take a little breather before the fun quotient just blows my mind!
Grandpa, you are one silly guy! Just keep those laughs coming!

At one point, we lost Grandpa. But then we found him. Lucky for us!
Fancy finding our Wizard of Oz friends here! Everyone together now: "We're off to see the Wizard, the Wonderful Wizard of Oz!"
There were GIGANTIC slides all over the farm and we went down almost all of them with Grandpa and Mommy. Weeeee!
We chased Grandpa through a long corn maze...but made it out alive!
We enjoyed a long, silly, and entertaining hayride:
We ate a special junk food lunch of hot dogs and french fries (we like hot dogs, much to our Mom's horror and dismay!):
And we danced the afternoon away to good ol' West Virginian Mountain music. What a great way to ring in the fall!

Dizzy with Daddy

Here we are, just hanging out, bored before Daddy gets home from work:When he comes home, we get ready for bed... and let the silliness begin!
Silly girlies everywhere! Watch out people, here comes the maniac red-head!
We are always so happy when Daddy gets home from a LONG day at work to play with us!!

New Wheels Plus Football = Perfection!

In this fancy pants town of ours, much of our life is spent on the Capital Beltway. Seriously, the time we waste in the car going to and fro is actually astonishing. But now, sick of watching life pass us by in the backseat, we are officially in the driver's seat of our own vehicle and it's a marvelous sense of freedom and responsibility. The Cozy Coupe is our ticket to infinity and beyond! (or just to the edge of the yard--whichever comes first).

Elyse: Watch out Felicity. There's a major road hazard ahead! Oh...oops..that's Mommy! Elyse: Let me help push you out of this ditch Felicity. Geez, what kind of maniac driver are you?
Felicity: The kind who learned how to drive from Daddy.

In other, similarly exciting news, it is officially football season and we are elated to cheer loudly for the GOPHERS!!! (and the Vikings too, but that's another post for another time...).

Felicity: Rah, Rah, Rah, Ski-U-Mah!
This little Gopher has a few teeth coming in, so kindly avert your eyes from the drool on my shirt.
You betcha' I'll be cheering for those Golden Gophers. You should too if you know what's good for ya!

Jungle Gym Joys!

Hello! We have been busy little bees playing and participating in lots of activities this past week. It's great to be back to a regular schedule! Besides a great new schedule, Mommy was also excited to attend the annual twin consignments sales with the arrival of fall. She gets tons of cute clothes for us, toys, and other goodies. If you have a twin sale near you--GO! You'll be glad you did.

Here is one thing Mommy got this last Saturday. Isn't it cool? She had to put all of the pieces together (there were TONS of them!), but it was brand new, so she didn't mind! And it was an AMAZING steal of a deal! We just love our new monkey gym:Felicity: Yeah, I'm pretty proud of myself for getting up here all by myself. I like to swing from the bars, be daring and climb on them, and enjoy another fun outdoor toy!
Elyse: I like to crawl into the dome and pretend it's our secret hiding spot kind of like the Bat Cave. We have a secret hand-shake and everything.
Felicity: No fair! Elyse just cut in front of me to go down the slide first. She thinks she's so important just because she was born a whole 14 minutes before me. Humpf!
Elyse: Who me? Sweet, innocent, lil'ol'me? Nah, I don't know what on earth you're talking about Felicity! (see note below)

Truth in Advertising Disclaimer: In all reality, Felicity probably just got done pushing Elyse down the slide and was frowning because she was scolded (per her usual self). Elyse is then waving at the camera in an "I'm okay Mom, no big deal" relaxed kind of way (also per her usual self). The above captions, however, reflect the author's own dramatic license to make for better blog reading.

Back to School

Happy First Day of School! Of course, we're not in school yet, but we live across the street from a school and love to see the kids every morning through the window. Because the first day is a special day, we sat outside on the stairs waving at all of the kids, parents, and crossing guard. We even got to wear one of our new fall outfits! We also tried the crossing guard's moves--putting our hands up to say "STOP cars!" Such exciting fun we had!

Here they come! Get ready to wave...Elyse: Check out our new backpacks. They are just our size and perfect for traveling and playing school. I definitely like it!
Don't mind me-- I'm just getting my work done, wearing my backpack, whistling while I work...
An apple a day makes me smart? Well, at least it makes me cute!
Have a great first day of school everyone! (especially our cousins!)
UPDATE: This just in! Here are two of our cousins on their first day of school. Good luck Emma and Grace--way to rock out in your new school clothes! Lots of love...

Minnesota Mania: Day 4

We were so excited to see our good buddy, Benjamin, on our trip to MN. Ben's mommy and daddy and our parents are good friends and so it's only natural that we too would be fast friends with Benjamin! We had a beautiful afternoon eating a yummy lunch, relaxing in the sun, and playing with Ben and our cousins. Check out the red-heads...there's lots of trouble brewing here:
Felicity: This was a great photo-op, but as you can see I'm pretty upset about the seating arrangement. I really wanted to sit by Ben, because he's practically my boyfriend! I'm definitely sweet on him!
Grandma is always a good person to wipe the tears away. She assures me that Ben can be everyone's friend!
And finally, we had so much fun playing in the cozy coupe that Mom is going to get one for our house ASAP!! We don't even mind riding in the car together:
